RATIONALE

Occupational Health and Safety is a field concerned with creating an environment that is conducive
for work by protecting the health, Safety and welfare of workers/employees. This program is designed to introduce learners to the theory and practice of Occupational Health and Safety through a combination of teaching methods.

The programme is aimed, principally, at providing the labour market with graduates who can operate as independent consultants, or be employed fulltime in both the public and private sectors as:

• Occupational Health and Safety Management Consultants
• Safety, Health and Environment Managers and Officers
• Safety, Health and Environment Officers
• Risk Managers
• Risk Control Officers
• Loss Control Managers
• Managers and Administrators in Occupational Health and Safety and related fields
• Safety Officers
• Safety Managers
• Safety Auditors
• Loss Control Officers
• Trainers in Occupational Health and Safety Management

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have obtained at least two (2) credits and at least (28) points at BGCSE (or equivalent). Admission is subject to Programme specific requirements regarding special subjects to be passed at BGCSE. OR
Candidates must have completed a relevant
Certificate or its equivalent. OR
Special Entry:
Candidates who do not have the minimum
academic qualifications stated above but
have a minimum of two years of relevant work
experience will be considered upon satisfying
the requirements of the Academic Affairs Board.

PROGRAMME DURATION

The Programme is run over a period of twenty four months.
