RATIONALE

Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) is a professional body in Botswana. It has
two stages; Professional and Advanced stage. The professional Stage of the BICA qualifiFIAion forms
the first stage of formal learning and assessment and, as such, aims to provide students with the
technical skills and underpinning knowledge to perform their work as trainee chartered
accountants in a variety of environment, while the Advanced Stage deals with the issues of strategic
nature.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1.1 GCSE A Level-2 A Levels and 3 CSE passes-
Grades A-C

1.2 AAT/FIA Qualification

1.3 Any University degree-equivalent to UB degree

1.4 ACCA Student who has passed Part 1

1.5 CIMA student who has passed at least
CertifiFIAe in Business Accounting
(Cert BA)

1.6 Members of ACCA or CIMA or any other IFAC
recognised professional accounting body.

PROGRAMME DURATION

The Diploma programmes will run over a duration of twenty four months. Learners will be required to undertake work learning attachment/research project within the last semester before completion of the programme.
