Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantity Surveying
RATIONALE
Quantity Surveyors operate in all sectors of the Built Environment and primarily focus on financial management of construction projects. This Quantity Surveying qualification curriculum is designed
to cover a whole range of skills and knowledge that modern Quantity Surveyors require to perform their work efficiently and effectively.
All the basic skills of the Quantity Surveyor in commercial management of construction, quantification & costing of construction works, procurement & tendering, construction technology, contract administration & practice and project final control and reporting are dealt with in sufficient detail to meet the required competency levels of students and ensure that they are employable graduates.
Specifically, the Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantity Surveying aims to equip student with specialised skills and techniques which enable them to:
• Provide independent, objective, accurate and reliable capital and operating cost assessment for investment funding, project administration and control.
• Have skills of quantity surveying in commercial management of construction, quantification & costing of construction works, procurement & tendering and construction technology.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of this programme are expected to gain employment in the public sector, consulting quantity surveying firms, construction companies and other players in the construction
industry as well as self-employment.
They can work in areas of:

• Property Development
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have obtained at least 36
points at BGCSE (or equivalent) including a
pass (with a Grade D) in English language and (Grade C) in Mathematics. Admission is subject to Programme specific requirements regarding special subjects to be passed at BGCSE. OR
Candidates must have completed a relevant
Diploma or its equivalent. OR
Special Entry:
Candidates who do not have the minimum
academic qualifications stated above but
have a minimum of two years of relevant work
experience will be considered upon satisfying
the requirements of the Academic Affairs Board.
(OVCs and other special interest groups are
admitted for BA ISAGO programmes with 31
points.
PROGRAMME DURATION
The Degree programme will run over duration of 54 months (4 1/2 years) for fulltime learners (eight semesters in forty-eight months, consisting of six months each) and sixty months (5 years) for part-time learners.
