Bachelor of Education in Social Studies
RATIONALE
Botswana’s future development, like that of any other country, hinges largely on the quality of its human resources. To meaningfully contribute to the country’s development and meet
national goals such a resource needs to be developed through exposure to various disciplines. Social Studies serves as a tool to produce a sound and robust human resource in the form of
competent, responsible, patriotic and adaptive citizens capable of working in an ever changing socio-economic and political environment.
The Bachelor of Education in Social Studies programme is designed to equip students with broader and deeper social studies content as well as to develop skills and attitudes that will
enable them to meet the challenges of the ever changing world in which they operate on a daily basis. It will also enable them to grow professionally and to effectively and fluently implement
government educational policies and programmes.
