Foundation in Accountancy (FIA)
RATIONALE
The Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) is a professional qualification offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) with the aim of providing accounting skills, competencies and knowledge at the technician level.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Candidates choosing to peruse FIA enter a world of unlimited possibilities. The FIA qualifcation provides an excellent foundation to pursue a career in any of the following fields:
• Finance Officers
• Audit Assistants
• Forensic Accountants
• Internal Auditor in Business
• Business Advisory Services
Upon completion of the FIA Programme, students may proceed to study towards the ACCA / BICA qualification, gaining exemption at the Fundamentals Level. ACCA / BICA qualifiFIAion leads to becoming a Chartered
Accountant.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1.1 Applicants must have completed the Botswana General Certifice of General Education (BGCSE), or its equivalent, and have achieved at least a pass in any of the following: Mathematics, Commerce, Accounting or Business Studies. OR
1.2 Other qualifications may be considered on their merit as alternatives. This option is subject to approval by the Academic Affairs Board.
